55 Vision — 175 years of chocolate history Board President Ernst Tanner values the active commitment of all employees and partners. They took on an immense amount of additional work and mas- tered the project flawlessly. He is also grateful to the municipality of Kilchberg, which has always given its full support to this unique large-scale project. It was particularly important to Ernst Tanner that the Lindt Home of Chocolate be lo- cated exactly where it is now – in Swit- zerland. The chocolate museum is set to play an important role in ensuring a strong future for Switzerland as the home of chocolate so that the pioneer- ing work of the original company found- ers can be successfully continued. Opening in the anniversary year Following the opening in May 2020, some 350,000 chocolate fans from Swit- zerland and abroad are expected to visit the Lindt Home of Chocolate. There are many new things to discover, a number of secrets to unveil, and chocolate to en- joy with all five senses across a total of 1,500 square meters and seven chocolate experience worlds. Who knows, maybe this will inspire one or two young aspir- ing chocolate experts. By encouraging the next generation and providing industry-specific training and further education for skilled workers, the company aims to meet the growing demand for specialists. In cooperation with universities and higher education institutions, the aim is to work on new production and process technologies to preserve the competence surrounding and further development of Swiss choc- olate. lindt-home-of-chocolate.ch On September 12, 2017, a time capsule with Lindt&Sprüngli symbols from the past and present was buried as part of the celebration to mark the laying of the foundation stone. With this, Board President Ernst Tanner symbolically fired the starting gun for the building construction. In addition to Board Members of the Lindt Chocolate Competence Foundation, the Mayor of Kilchberg and numerous media representatives also attended the event.
